Pete's Bar Implements Heartland Restaurant and can now start Chip Card Bar Tabs to Ensure Funds are Available while Eliminating Friendly Fraud Chargebacks

 All is good with starting tabs with chip cards and the ability for Heartland Processing to preauthorize in making sure funds are available while also protecting our business from fraudulent chargebacks. The chip readers are especially helpful where more and more banks are issuing chip cards that will decline when trying to run it as a swiped transaction instead of a chip transaction. Banks are saying chip cards are the latest security measures and expect them to be used as chip transactions.

In the event the internet is down, HRPOS continues to operate and uses the Local Area Network (LAN) to sync tickets to all devices. It doesn't suddenly shrink down to a glorified calculater like other cloud systems, which could lower staff moral when the guest experience is negatively impacted.

Bartender Ordering

HRPOS app supports fixed pos stations that can be hard wired or wireless to the pos network for servers and bartenders.


If your bar moves at a fast pace with single item orders, the HRPOS Two-Tap-Ticket functionality is right for you! Many bars depend on a point of sale system that’s fast and intuitive.


Simply tap the item and the Fast Cash or Checkout button in two quick movements and your order is ready to be processed.

EMV Chip Bar Tabs

HRPOS supports two quick and easy ways for bartenders to start a tab.

 Using EMV Chip Card technology, HRPOS pre-authorizes the chip card which not only ensures funds are available for a pre-defined dollar amount, but protects you from Friendly Fraud Chargebacks.  Even better, as additional items are added to the tab, when the total goes over the pre-authorization amount, incremental authorization technology will automatically authorize the card again for a pre-defined incremental amount, ensuring the necessary additional funds are available on the card so that you don't lose out afterwards with declines as bartenders try to close out tabs after the guest is gone.


 If you are not using EMV Chip readers, when a card is swiped on a card reader it's converted to a token to save on file for the tab. 


Both methods eliminate the need to keep cards behind the bar. Bartenders can also add any text comment to the tab so that it can be easy to search for the tab by the comment name as well as the card holder name. Should a guest walk out on a tab, no problem.  Add the 20% tip and close the tab out to the pre-authorized emv chip card or token on file.

Need for Speed to Find Open Tabs

Unlike other POS systems, with HRPOS you can create an enormous number of tabs without system performance degredation, which comes in handy for holidays and special events.


It's imperative to have the ability to quickly search for a tab.  HRPOS allows you to sort your tabs in different ways that's best for your team.  Tabs can be searched by typing in the card holder name or the tab comment name, making it very fast to pull up the right tab to add another round of drinks.

Bar Tabs Quick Check Splitting

HRPOS offers efficient, easy-to-use check splitting functionality. Bartenders can split checks evenly or split by seats with a single touch.


Every split can be tendered with any combination of cash, credit cards, and gift cards.


Menu items can be moved between splits, and the split checks can easily be collapsed into one with just a few taps to the screen.


The 'Remove All' button quickly removes all separate checks and puts the ticket back to one ticket making it quick and easy for staff to start over if needed.

Cocktail Server Tableside Ordering

With HRPOS, your servers can input orders directly to the kitchen using an iPad or iPad Mini at the table. No need to waste time entering an order after writing it down. Display beautiful photos of your menu items to guests.

Connect your phone system to the HRPOS customer database to know who is calling your restaurant to place an order. When a call comes in, your POS device will automatically pull up the customer profile associated with the phone number. Send 'Text to Pay' to Guests

Order Takers can text links to customers to pay quickly, easily and securely via smartphone.  No app, download, or guest log in is required.


Once the phone number is added to the ticket, press the [SMS] button and the customer immediately receives a text message with a link to pay their ticket.


Guests can pay by ApplePay or Credit Card and even add a tip if enabled. Upon completion of payment, the ticket is immediatly marked paid in the POS app.

Time & Attendance and Labor Scheduling

Our robust time keeping and employee management tool provides an employee time clock integration built right into the HRPOS system. Employees can clock in and out for shifts from within the app with a photo taken for proof of authenticity. Administrators can access employee Time & Attendance reports and manually edit shifts from the the POS or the backend management website.


Use the clock-in messages feature to communicate with staff when they are clocking in for their shift. Multiple messages can be set up at one time and staff will be required to acknowledge messages immediately after selecting clock in.  Messages can appear to all staff, to a specific group of staff by job code, or to a specific individual. 


Labor Scheduling allows to enforce employee schedules by preventing employees from clocking in on the POS before their scheduled shift.

HRPOS uses payment terminals with a built-in pin pad. They offer EMV, NFC/contactless, and MSR and are PCI PTS 3.1, MasterCard PayPass, Visa payWave, American Express ExpressPay, and Discover DPAS certified. Any HRPOS tablet, whether Ethernet or Wi-Fi connected, can initiate and perform transactions on any payment terminal.
